Open Letter to Secretary General of the United Nations, Global Leaders, Human Rights Organizations, and Medical Authorities

His Excellency António Guterres

Secretary-General of the United Nations

United Nations Headquarters, New York, United States

I am compelled to write this open letter today out of a tragic incidence to promptly draw your kind attention  as it matters seriously for the 225 million people of Pakistan. My name is Fazal Amin Beg, from Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern Pakistan. I lost my eyesight entirely in the summer of 2011, after completing my doctoral coursework. Since 2014, I have continued my research and work with the assistance of screen readers such as JAWS. I am myself a victim of retinal degeneration  called retinitis pigmentosa   (RP) and I understand the phenomenon of eye loss more deeply than those with normal vision. I therefore write this open letter out of profound concern for the health, safety, and dignity of His Excellency Imran Khan, former Prime Minister  of Pakistan.

PM Imran Khan, a gentleman who has devoted his life to Pakistan and the world, has been forcibly deprived of the vision in his right eye by the military dictator Asim Munir and his puppet government. Once fully sighted, athletic, disciplined, and strong, he now faces complete disability in that eye. Following clandestine medical procedures (without informing his family, personal doctors, lawyers  and party leaders) retains only minimal light perception, approximately fifteen percent, which offers almost no functional vision. His left eye remains intact, yet its preservation is precarious and demands urgent attention.

This loss was not a result of natural disease progression, nor of personal negligence at all. The circumstances surrounding his loss of vision suggest deliberate obstacle of care, delayed treatment, and potentially life-threatening interference in the jail since August 2023. In October 2025, he reported blurred vision to the jail authorities. Requests for timely medical attention were ignored and tactically delayed by those who should have protected him. The medical reports on his eye status and condition written by Dr. Muhammad Arif at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad  were concealed. Instead of immediate, expert care, deliberate impediment ensured the irreversible damage to his health condition.

Though, the family and his hospital doctors of PM Imran Khan  in Shaukat Khanum have been robustly   demanding from the Government  that he needs his retinal treatement of CRVO (Central Retinal Vein Oclusion) and underlying medical examination from Shifa International Hospital (Islamabad), the military generals have been so rude and crude to suppress their genuine voices. PM Imran Khan is reportedly being admitted at Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital, Rawalpindi (based in retired military generals command) under the highest security measures. He will be treated by Dr. Nadeem Qureshi and Dr. Muhammad Muhammad Amjad, highly skilled retinal specialists capable of managing complex retinal vascular conditions. Yet even their ability to provide full treatment is constrained by secrecy, restrictions, and lack of transparency. This is not merely a medical emergency,  rather it is a human rights emergency of the highest order on the one hand; and the entire public connected with him emotionally and realistically. Let me clearly mention that every delay, every restriction, every denial of access puts his remaining vision, overall health, and life at risk.

Moreover, The worst brutalities on him in the jail, as could be anticipated based on logic, that the solitary confinement, mental torture and food issues  led towards his vein oclusion in the retina that finally damaged his eyesight.Kindly, allow me to highlight here the key points.

1. Irreversible harm from delayed medical care: CRVO is a serious and potentially blinding disease. Without immediate, expert treatment, it can cause permanent retinal damage, loss of remaining vision, and secondary systemic complications. PM Imran Khan’s right eye is lost; the left eye is vulnerable. Treatments, including anti-VEGF injections, laser therapy, and surgical interventions, can stabilize and potentially restore function, but only if delivered promptly and without obstruction. He needs on top priority his full medical examination related with this disease to explore, understand  and treat it effectively adn efficiently. .

2. Denial of access to family, legal representatives, and independent medical care: his family is prevented from seeing him. Both of his sons (based in the United Kingdom) got an opportunity to talk to their great father after eight months or so and only for 20 minutes. His lawyers are blocked. Even his doctors cannot act freely due to the constraints imposed by authorities. The combination of isolation, obstruction, and restricted oversight has created a situation where harm was inevitable.

3. Suspected deliberate interference reports have emerged suggesting that attempts may have been made to harm PM Imran Khan through his food or medication. While these reports require independent verification, the pattern of obstruction and concealment is undeniable. The actions of those entrusted with protection have directly contributed to permanent loss of vision and place his life in imminent danger.

4. Public unrest and collective concern:across Pakistan, hundreds of thousands of citizens have organically come out to the streets and major highways in peaceful protest, blocking roads, holding sit-ins, and raising their voices for justice to and release Imran Khan. Hi political party leaders in the parliaments at Islambad have been locked inside the parliament and KP House who are in sit-ins. Over 95%  of the Pakistani population supports him, not only politically, but because they trust his honesty, integrity, and unwavering service to the nation in different realms in addition to human rights  mentorship, rule of law, democracy and constitutionalism. While the public expresses its concern, PM Imran Khan remains isolated and under conditions that threaten both his physical and mental well-being.

5. Urgent call for international intervention: I appeal to the global community  leaders through His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations , to take immediate and robust action. This must include:

  1. , immediate release of Imran Khan and full unrestricted access to qualified medical specialists, especially those the patient himself, his family and doctors recommend and arrange.
  2. Transparency in all medical records, examinations, and interventions as his medical reports have been conealed from public and it sounds there are major issues with his health condition.
  3. Access for family, personal physicians, and legal representatives. His sons Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan must be granted visas immediately to reach Pakistan and meet their father as the military government under Asim Munir has been denying it since August 2025.
  4. Protective measures to prevent further harm, including independent monitoring of medications, food, and general well-being.
  5. Independence of judiciary and media:  Asim Munir and his criminal mafia have  occupied the judges at all level, from the grassroots to the supreme court. That’s why the fake cases of PM Imran Khan is being delayed for months adn months, years and years. The judgements are given against him on political reasons and not based on laws. The unlawfully promoted Chief Justice of Pakistan has been evading to make justice. Even when he gives his judgement then runs away to hand over the written to the families and lawyers of Imran Khan. Instead, he prefers to go out of the city and enjoy different kinds of sports. .

I therefore write not only as a distant observer or academic. I write wholeheartedly as a human being who bitterly experiences and understands the despair of blindness and helplessness. I write as a witness to injustice and suffering, and as someone compelled by empathy, concern, and moral obligation. PM Imran Khan’s remaining vision must be preserved. Examination of his all his vital organs is a must on top. His dignity and life must be protected. Those who obstructed care must be held accountable.

Every day of delay threatens further irreversible harm. Every moment of silence endangers life and justice. The international community must act. The world cannot remain passive while a human being, followed by millions of people,  suffers under deliberate obstruction and cruelty. PM Imran Khan’s right to life, health, and dignity are non-negotiable.

This letter is written with tears, fear, hope, and urgency. It is a cry for justice to a literally kidnapped global leader under a handful of unlawful and criminal mafia of Pakistani military generals and their civilian cronies and fake rulers in  government.it’s a cry and call to conscience, and a demand for action. Let this testimony reach the hearts, minds, and hands of those capable of change. Let PM Imran Khan’s remaining sight, overall health, and dignity be safeguarded. Let humanity prevail.

Sincerely,

Fazal Amin Beg
